In commemoration of the 150th anniversary as a family farm, Bardenhagen Berries is offering guided walking tours throughout the 2022 summer. This tour will focus on how we grow strawberries! You'll have the chance to see some of our 12.5 acres of strawberry fields, and learn what goes into growing a "Bardenhagen Berry"! We'll cover everything from the history of strawberry farming in Leelanau County, what varieties we grow and why, how we plant & care for the strawberries, equipment we use, and how the fruit is harvested. We anticipate that our harvest won't begin until sometime between June 15 and 21st (it's too soon to say for sure), so we can't promise you'll be able to sample this year's berries yet!

This 1 ½ hour tour will be guided by family members.

Participants should be able to comfortably walk 1 ½ miles over rough terrain. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. The tour will feature strawberry fields, but we'll also include brief stops at our cherry orchard, market garden (including 2 hoophouses), and 42 kW solar panel system.
