Hops to Table Magazine presents a “Farm-to-Fork Craft Beer Experience” on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Ten22 in Old Sacramento. This event will feature five very limited, locally sourced beers from the 2013 harvest. Ten22 Executive Chef Jay Veregge will pair each special beer with amazing farm-to-fork food creations created just for this event.
According to John Zervas, Founder and Publisher of Hops to Table Magazine, “Hops are very fragile and degrade almost immediately after picking. The vast majority of beer made today use kiln-dried hops. The beers featured at this pairing use locally sourced “wet hops.” These limited hops have been picked at their peak of freshness and used almost immediately.” Zervas continued, “Why go to all this trouble? First and foremost: the flavor. The base notes are similar—floral, bitter, spicy, tangy—but the fresh hops add pronounced notes of vibrancy, fineness, definition and delicacy that you don't get in dry-hopped beers."
This is not only a craft beer dinner, but also an educational experience. Each of the brewers will be at this event to discuss their style of beer making, their inspiration for making the beer and what ingredients are sourced locally. The breweries include Track 7 Brewing Company, Ruhstaller, New Helvetia Brewing Co., Drake’s Brewing Company, and Berryessa Brewing Company.
The event is $49 per person and tickets can be purchased ahead of time at HopsToTable.eventbrite.com. Ten22 is located at 1022 Second Street in Old Sacramento. This event is highly anticipated and expected to sell out quickly. These craft beers are one-off beers using very limited 2013 vintage hops, and they will not be around for long.
