Event description

Description

The Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP), National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA (NCBA) and the New America Public Interest Technology team are excited to host a bipartisan convening of rural policy leaders to discuss approaches that can help rural America better capture economic opportunities through the Rural Development Title of the Farm Bill.

Join former Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and former Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Connor at this innovative summit that will employ new policy-making methodologies with the goal to create economic opportunity in rural communities. America’s rural communities are constantly innovating by relying on local resources and relationships to drive economic opportunity, many times with limited capacity. This summit will help shine a spotlight on both the opportunities and obstacles facing rural communities. The event will seek your expertise to ensure that the newest incarnation of the Farm Bill appropriately addresses the needs of rural communities.

Rural Development programs play an important role in fostering locally-driven economic growth in rural communities. In an environment of scarce resources, new approaches and ideas are needed to realign these programs so that people in rural communities can achieve better outcomes. With heightened focus on a new Farm Bill, now is the time to ensure that federal policy is able to create jobs and foster local solutions that will lead to economic prosperity.

What is different about this Summit? At the 2018 Farm Bill Rural Development Innovation Summit, we will create a structured, design-oriented opportunity to ensure the best ideas are surfaced and tested for their potential impact. From the summit, a bipartisan coalition will come together around a small number of transformational ideas, creating a true opportunity to steer the Farm Bill towards a proper course. Now is the time for you to join rural leaders in striving for innovative and critical rural policy. Please join the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP), the New America Public Interest Technology team, and the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) on March 1 for a bipartisan, interactive, and action-oriented discussion on the future of rural development policy in the United States.
