Event description

Description

This year, the United States Congress has been working on reauthorizing the Farm Bill and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada would like to invite you to a community discussion on why it is important, who is impacted by the Farm Bill, and why it is important to advocate for a strongest possible bill we can get before the end of 2018.

Close to 80% of the Farm Bill spending is on the federal nutrition programs including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program, a program that provides USDA foods and federal support to emergency food assistance for low income families.

The Farm Bill also helps bring agricultural development to rural areas that help support our economy.

The purpose of this workshop is to explain the importance of the farm bill for all of our partners in Nevada and California, and why the Food Bank of Northern Nevada needs your help to ensure Congress passes the strongest bill possible.

Sarah Adler, former state director for the USDA Rural Development will be co-presenting with us.

Please join us for this important conversation.
