SOME INFORMATION ABOUT OCEANIC SOCIETY:  Oceanic Society was established in 1969 as a non-profit marine conservation organization.  Our mission is to protect marine wildlife worldwide through an integrated program of environmental education, hands-on experience & scientific research. Locally, Oceanic Society offers boat trips year round to explore SF Bay and to observe marine mammals in the Gulf of the Farallons Marine Sanctuary and beyond. Internationally, a major focus of Oceanic Society is the establishment and maintenance of marine reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.  The scientific data produced from our research projects make a compelling case for environmental protection.  Our international expeditions provide an opportunity for the public to learn about, and enjoy, natural habitats.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT FARALLON ISLANDS:

The Farallon National Wildlife Refuge is located 25 miles west of San Francisco and is noted for abundant bird and marine life.  Marine mammals like pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) and cetaceans (dolphins, porpoises, and whales) are frequently seen around the islands and several species of pinnipeds use the islands as a refuge and breeding ground.  You may see California or Stellar sea lions, harbor or elephant seals, Dall’s or Harbor porpoises, Pacific white-sided dolphins, an occasional great white shark, and Humpback, Blue, Fin, Minke and Gray whales. In addition, 12 species of seabirds are known to nest on the Farallons, including tufted puffins, pigeon guillemots, Cassin’s auklets, common murres and three species of cormorant. Since the islands are a wildlife refuge, we will sail around, but will not land on the islands.

If the vessel returns to the marina between 30 minutes and one hour, a $25 per person fuel charge will be assessed on all refunds.  If the vessel is out over 1.5 hours, the trip will be considered complete and no refunds or rescheduling will occur.

There is a $10 service charge for all returned checks.
