Event description

Description

Del Monte Forest Conservancy (DMFC) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which acquires, protects and enhances lands dedicated to open space within the Del Monte Forest. DMFC will be hosting a series of volunteer days to perform dune habitat restoration at Fanshell Dunes, a DMFC owned property which overlooks Fanshell Beach. The dates/times are shown below:

  • Saturday, January 26, 2019, 10:00AM to 2:00PM

  • Saturday, February 23, 2019, 10:00AM to 2:00PM

  • Saturday, March 23, 2019, 10:00AM to 2:00PM

Fanshell Dunes is located on the 17-mile drive just north of the Cypress Point Golf Course in Pebble Beach, CA.

Volunteers will help with weed removal and will transplant seedlings of native species. We’ll also spend time clearing ice plant from new sections of the property if time permits. Work will be supervised by Joey Dorrell-Canepa, a dune biologist who specializes in native habitat restoration.

Volunteers should plan to arrive before 10AM. Coffee and mid-morning snacks will be available by 9:30AM. We’ll hold a short orientation session onsite at 10AM each day led by Joey Canepa. Volunteers should wear sturdy clothing and bring garden gloves. The DMFC will provide soft drinks/water as well as lunch for all participants.

Volunteers can sign up for 1 or more sessions. Children at least 10 years of age are welcome to participate if accompanied by an adult.
