Event description

Description

“Volunteering in any capacity teaches kids that they can make a difference, and when you give back as a family, parents get the opportunity to serve as models of inspiration.” – Forbes.

The effects of volunteering together as a family are clear. It not only deepens the family bond but it also provides a personal growth opportunity for all involved. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is proud to offer family volunteer days – days for families to come together to ensure thousands of other families have enough to eat.

During this one hour volunteer experience, your family will work together on projects such as preparing bags with enough food to sustain a child over a weekend. The experience also includes an optional half hour tour of the Food Bank to learn more about how it works.

"We can't thank you enough. I was very impressed and happy to learn more about what the Food Bank does - It is truly remarkable. Thank you for volunteering your Saturday morning. You made such an impression on all of us and we would love to come back,” Jaime and Scarlett McGovern.

Two sessions are available for this opportunity, with a half hour tour in between shifts.

9:30 am – 10:30 am (arrive at 9:15 am)

10:30 am - 11:00 am (Tour of Food Bank for both groups)

11:00 am – 12:00 pm (arrive at 10:45 am, or 10:15 if you would like to participate in the tour)
