Actions and Detail Panel
Family Movie Night - RESILIENCE screening
Fri, June 9, 2017, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM EDT
Get ready for summer with Family Movie Night!
Children, youth, parents and caregivers are all welcome. Light dinner served to all at 6 PM; movies start at 6:30.
Children will enjoy a G-rated movie and snacks, supervised by skilled caregivers. Next door, parents, caregivers and interested older youth will screen the recent documentary Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope.
Resilience explores the connection between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), the stress they can create, and the science of how it affects the body into adulthood. The movie will be followed by a brief panel discussion, with representatives from Fairfax County Public Schools, the Fairfax Falls Church Community Services Board, and the Fairfax County Department of Family Services. Panelists will share efforts in our community to build resilient families and children, and will respond to questions.
The event will conclude by 8:30 PM.
