The Train the Trainers is an opportunity for family law attorneys who are members of the Maryland Bar in good standing to become trainers for “Family Law for the People: Understanding the Law and Court Process,” a free three-hour informational seminar that presents substantive and procedural information in a manner that is understandable to the general public. The seminar covers topics including:
· Child custody and support;
· Court process;
· Legal resources and representation; and
· Alternatives to trial.
The live seminar is supplemented by a Participant Handbook, which includes the seminar PowerPoint presentation with notes to enhance learning, a glossary of legal terms, and an index of legal resources.
Attorneys who successfully complete the Train the Trainers will be added to a roster of trainers recruited by courts for local Family Law for the People seminars. Attorneys are encouraged to serve as trainers on a pro bono basis but will also be eligible for an $80 per hour fee for up to three hours (subject to funding availability).
*If you are unable to travel to Annapolis to attend the Train the Trainers in-person, remote access will be made available. Please contact FLFTP@mdcourts.gov for more information.
