Event description

Description

"Work life balance," um. Don't go down an Internet wormhole on this one. Talk to some real people, who have been navigating these issues for many years.

On March 15, we'll have an unplugged, semi-private*, not-for-attribution panel conversation, with real talk about experience and tactics for:

  • Navigating our boundaries
  • What can we do when people at work don't "get it"?
  • How can we, as leaders, work with gaps between organizational policies vs. leadership behavior?
  • And more!

We'll have ample time for Q&A and open discussion.

Confirmed panelists
Michele Spiezia, co-founder and CEO of Bespoke. Bespoke is a better way for creatives to browse the web and collaborate with one another. A writer at heart, a leader by trade, Michele and her husband are cinematographers, who own Films by Francesco. They've edited documentaries for the former CFO of Warner Bros. & Sirio Maccioni of Le Cirque, and they shot the weddings of Nicole Richie, Blake Shelton, LeBron James, and Chelsea Clinton. They're also the proud parents of an 11-year-old wonder boy.

Mike Ma, Co-Founder & President of Coeio. Coeio is building green funeral products that let people leave this earth with minimal toxins or unnatural traces left behind. Mike has deployed his expertise in technology, advertising, marketing, and sales in organizations ranging from a small startup, to multi-billion dollar financial services firms. Mike also founded and operates ShredBetter, the ultimate place to find, rate, and hire a snowsports instructor. He teaches snowboarding, and is an AASI Level III Certified Instructor. Mike and his wife have 3 great kids, all under 12.

Anne Libby (moderator) is the daughter of 2 Older Americans, and the aunt of 5 geniuses, 10 and under -- in other words, a family member. Like many other people who don't have children, she has navigated situations at work where she felt (and in one case, was actually told outright!) that her family and personal obligations were not all that important.

Other event details
We'll have pizza or other casual food. Beverages (adult and other) will also be served.

Would you like to bring your child(ren)? Yes, it's fine! Please tell me in advance, so that I can arrange for childcare and kid-friendly beverages. Kids attend free, and there's room for them to hang out and do homework or color nearby.

*Semi-private? If you're reading this, you're invited. And please do use anything you learn, for yourself or your organization. This event won't be posted on social media or shared widely. Please don't blog, tweet, or otherwise quote the speakers via social media or the press. I find that keeping things offline frees participants to share more freely.
