Event description

Description

Ever wondered about the lives of your great-great grandparents? Need assistance in putting together the pieces of your family puzzle?

Join us for the second installment of a three part workshop series encouraging participants to discover, investigate, preserve, and curate their ancestral past in order to develop their own historical sagas.

On October 11th, The Legacy Project will host a Genealogy and DNA testing workshop led by Wilhelmena Rhodes Kelly, Linda Rhodes Jones, and Dr. Doris Withers that will explore the resources and techniques needed for participants to discover their family history using genealogical resources and DNA tests. They will discuss search options, methods, types of documents and types of DNA ancestry tests that can be used to uncover information and clues about family ancestry.

Please note, the workshop has been capped at 25 registrants, allowing for a much more personal experience and so that a free DNA test kits can be provided for each participant.

The Legacy Project is made possible in part by grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust.
