Family, Flowers and Friends - Coyote Ridge
Sun, April 9, 2017, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM PDT
Welcome to the 2017 Wildflower Season! We are excited to share our new preserve Coyote Ridge with you for breathtaking views and stunning wildflowers!
Enjoy a little 1.5 mile round trip hike that will stay at lower elevations, engage in hands-on activities and offers plenty of time to enjoy the flowers. This section is perfect for children, grandparents, and anyone who wants to witness the beauty but doesn't need or want to hike up the hill. Fun activities include art in the sun, with water colors, model magic, and other arts and crafts. Suitable for all ages and purely optional.
We encourage you to bring camp chairs, a picnic lunch, and plenty of water. We recommend a hat that ties down and a windbreaker. It does get breezy. Feel free to bring a little blanket, but we will have some small tarps you can sit on at lunch as well. We will start at 10 am and go until 1 pm. You will be within walking distance of the cars and anyone is welcome to come and go as needed. This experience will be offered Saturdays and Sundays.
Caution: The entrance to Coyote Ridge is down the street from the County Park’s shooting range. While there is no danger, we respect that the sound may be upsetting. Once you get around the corner to head up hill or to enjoy the lower section of this trail, the sounds are blocked. However, while we are in the parking area, there may be a few gunshot sounds. If you prefer to move away from the area before the rest of the group, please let us know and we can make arrangements for you to do so and the rest of the group will catch up.
For any additional questions or concerns, please the Wildflower Hotline at 408-754-4555.
Take Highway 101 and exit Bailey Avenue. Take Bailey Avemue east for 1/4 mile. The road will turn to the left and a green gate will be located on your right hand side. Look for the Open Space Authority event sign, and we will be there to greet you!
