Registrations are closed

Thank you for choosing to visit the NJ Fish and Wildlife's Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center. We ask that you only register for one Family Fishing Basics Program so that others have the unique opportunity of learning with us. This program is full at this time, but you can still learn all about trout fishing by watching the NJ Fish and Wildlife's webinar, "New Jersey Trout Fishing: Terrain, Tactics and Techniques" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTovukvuHOE.

Pequest staff will teach you about fishing safety, ethics, equipment and how to use it.

About this event

Join the knowledgeable staff and volunteers at the Pequest Trout Hatchery and learn some fishing basics.

Staff will talk about the history and use of the hatchery, safety and ethics of fishing. They will go over equipment and how it is used.

After the discussion, participants will practice casting before heading to the pond for some hands-on fishing experience.

Participants are encouraged to bring a cooler with ice so that they can bring their catch home and enjoy a fresh fish dinner.

Any child under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult program participant.

All registrants must participate in the program.

Please do not sign up for this program more than once.
