Local Litter: Environmental Stewardship Starts on Your Block Activity
In this activity, students and their families explore how far trash travels as a result of stormwater runoff and our city’s storm drain systems. Once they’ve gained an understanding of the impact of stormwater runoff has on our local waterways, they’ll work together to plan a family neighborhood litter cleanup using safety guidelines and a waste tally system from UAS. Identifying ways of minimizing single use items in your own household begins with understanding what kinds of litter are most common in your neighborhood.
