Event description

Description

"Families Learning Together" (FLT), an outdoor, 'rain or shine' event will be open to 800+ visitors from 10am-4pm on Saturday April 8th on the non-electric, beautiful wooded Turtle Island Preserve campus - the only Appalachian Heritage Farm and outdoor education center of its kind. There will be music, vending, demonstrations, loads of learning and fun for all ages.

(FLT) is the best day of the whole year to visit!“ This is our 4th annual expo and festival promoting sustainable and natural living through the teaching of primitive skills from a range of instructors including Eustace Conway and Preston Roberts of the History Channel’s “Mountain Men” series! This is a chance to return to nature and connect with local community members and skilled craftspeople. Learn through experience with a hands-on approach to an alternative way of life.

The mission and goal is two fold:

1. Provide a creative, enriching visitor experience at a greatly reduced price, making high-quality educational expereinces available & accesible to families (like home-school, low income, and special interest groups) that would otherwise have resrictive financial limitations.

2. Allocate proceeds to a scholarship fund - to serve more families with a renowned, life-affirming summer youth camp. *by applying funds raised on this day, we create a community where typical recipeints of charity, become the providers of charity, thus strenghtening our community as a whole.
