Families and Folk Art: Quilted Stories
Event Information
Description
Quilts are America’s great art experiment: monumental compositions in color, pattern, geometry, and representation made (mostly) by women over more than three centuries. Join us to explore 21 striking quilts that are new to the Museum's collection! Participants will study these textile masterpieces then return to the studio to create their own artwork that tells a unique story and responds to the quilts on view.
Families and Folk Art introduces children ages 4 to 12 and their accompanying adults to folk art through interactive discussion-based tours in the galleries followed by hands-on artmaking activities inspired by objects in the museum. Space is limited; registration required. More info: 212. 265. 1040, ext. 381, or familyprograms@folkartmuseum.org
Families and Folk Art is supported by the estate of Marlene Gordon.
