NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE 3-DAY (24-HOUR) WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS.

In accordance with ANSI Z359.2 (5.1.3), all Fall Protection Competent Persons shall have a retraining course at least every 2 years to stay current with updated equipment and standards.

To facilitate this requirement, Kugan & Associates has teamed with industry specialists to provide the appropriate Competent Person Retraining course.

 

This 8-hour Fall Protection Competent Person Retraining course is designed for those individuals who are currently responsible or assigned as a Competent Person on NAVFAC/USACE (EM 385-1-1) or private sector (OSHA 1926) construction projects or in the General Industry (OSHA 1910) environment. This course is aimed at refreshing the knowledge of the Competent Person and adding new skills and knowledge to remain current and up to date with rapidly changing fall protection regulations, best practices, and equipment advances.

At course completion, students will be given a certificate of completion in Competent Person for Fall Protection Refresher/Update in accordance with ANSI standards.

 

Required Material: You need to have your own Fall Protection Equipment for use in this course:

  • Full Body Harness
  • Lanyard
  • Safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves are recommended.

Topics to be covered during the training include:

  • Update of OSHA, ANSI, Manufacturer, and all applicable regulations regarding the proper inspection, care, maintenance, storage and documentation of Fall Protection equipment.
  • Review of Hierarchy of Fall Protection, Passive vs. Active Fall Protection systems, Fall Restraint vs. Fall Arrest criteria, the use of conventional and non-conventional Fall Protection Systems, and the Requirements of rescue.
  • Roles and responsibilities of Qualified Person and Competent Person.
  • The selection of new equipment and gear, their use and evaluation.
  • Prepare and evaluate Fall Protection Hazard Assessments (AHA).
  • Selection and use of certified and non-certified anchors.
  • Review Fall Protection for aerial lifts and ladders.

 Cancellation Policy:

All course registration cancellations must be made no later than 1 week prior to the start of the class. If you do not cancel and do not attend the course for any reason, you will be responsible for the full course cost. Substitute attendees can be named at any time.
