Description

Join us for two great days of landscape assessment, monitoring, and native seed collecting at Red Canyon Reserve in partnership with Institute for Applied Ecology. This workshop is perfect for ranchers, land managers, students, or anyone looking to learn these methods. Attendees are responsible for food and camping gear. Tools and worksheets will be provided.

This workshop is free to attend.

Participants are encouraged to come Friday evening and stay through Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

We provide water and a beautiful place to camp out, you bring the rest.



What to expect:

Bulls Eye Rangeland Vegetation Monitoring

Learn how to assess vegetation using the Bull’s Eye method originally articulated by Kirk Gadzia.

Reading the landscape to better understand surface water flow and the erosional process, vegetation, gullies, head cutting and road drainage. We will build stone structures called media lunas, to slow down water movement.


Native Seed Gathering

w/Institute for Applied Ecology

This is the perfect time of year to collect native seed. The experts at the Institute for Applied Ecology will guide us in this process. Native seed is a huge component of habitat restoration. https://appliedeco.org
