Have you ever experienced fall along the North Shore of Lake Superior? It's pretty amazing. It's easy to get lost in the vastness of that huge lake. If your visit is timed perfectly the scenery is even more magical when it's outlined by the beautiful autumn colors. Seems like an ideal spot for a yoga retreat, right? Give yourself permission to spend three days and two nights at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN and dedicate some time to your yoga practice.

It'll be a weekend filled with exploration. You'll have time to explore nature throughout Wolf Ridge's trails and even experience some of my favorite trails along the Superior Hiking Trail. Your time on your mat will focus on exploring the unique elements of your own practice and discover ways to cultivate a personal, home practice. As a part of the retreat you're encouraged to read Tias Little's book Yoga of the Subtle Body: A Guide to the Physical and Energetic Anatomy of Yoga.

What's included:

  • 5 yoga classes over 3 days incorporating a variety of vinyasa-based classes with an emphasis on discovering your own, unique alignment
  • Accommodations for 3 days, 2 nights
  • 6 delicious meals
  • Free time to explore Wolf Ridge and the surrounding area include sections of the Superior Hiking Trail

Accommodations:

  • Shared dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds for 4 to 8 guests
  • Private bathroom with shower for each room
  • Linens and towels are not included and should be provided by guest

Cost:

$325 per person (booking fees not included). Included in your registration fee is a $25 donation to The Joe Stone Foundation, an organization that brings people together through outdoor recreation regardless of ability.

About Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center:

Wolf Ridge's mission is to develop a citizenry that has the knowledge, skills, motivation and commitment to work together for a quality environment. Since 1971 Wolf Ridge has been hosting groups to stimulate a love and understanding of nature by involving children and adults in direct observation of and participation in the outdoors.

What You Should Bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Yoga block(s) and strap (or a towel in lieu of a strap)--I could place a wholesale order if a lot of people need to purchase these
  • Meditation cushion or pillow if you like those for your seated practice
  • Yoga blanket or other kind for savasana
  • Notebook for taking notes or journaling
  • Copy of Yoga of the Subtle Body
  • Water bottle
  • Yoga clothes
  • Outdoor clothing and gear that is weather appropriate
  • Hiking boots--please break them in before the trip
  • Good hiking socks
  • Pajamas and slippers
  • Your favorite snacks and beverages
  • Sleeping bag or bedding for a twin bed
  • Pillow
  • Camping pad if desired
  • Bath towel and bathroom essentials
  • Ear plugs and sleeping eye mask if you're like me and require a deprivation chamber in order to sleep
  • Books, games, knitting supplies, whatever you'd like to do during your downtime
  • Flashlight or headlamp
