Event description

New Zealand’s South Island is a landscape photographers dream. With breathtaking beaches, stunning mountains and incredible vistas around pretty much every bend, it’s sort of like dying and going to photography heaven. During the fall months all the colours come to life in a spectacular show of bright yellows, deep reds and everything in between.

There are 8 spots available to all levels of photographers.

Tekapo (night 1) 28th April 2018

Our trip begins with pick up from either Christchurch International Airport or the hotel of your choice in Christchurch on the first day. After lunch and a chance to introduce everybody we’ll be hitting the road toward Tekapo.

Tekapo is a beautiful little town situated at the southern tip of the lake with the same name. It’s turquoise colour is something that draws photographers from all over the world. The picturesque Church of the Good shepherd will be one of our focuses whilst staying here.

Mount Cook (night 2) 29th April 2018

After a lake side sunrise shoot in Tekapo the tour heads further south west toward Mount Cook. Mount Cook National Park is home to the renowned Hooker Glacial Lake where Mount Cook, New Zealands tallest mountain, towers over you in the near distance. Be sure to pack your hiking boots because we have to hike here. A reasonable level of fitness is required however this is where we’ll be doing our longest hike. The Hooker Valley Trail 5km (3 hours).

Wanaka (night 3+4) 30th April 2018 & 1st of May 2018

This picturesque beautiful spot boasts one of the most popular photography destinations on the whole of the South Island. The famous lone Wanaka Tree. Here in Central Otago is really where you’ll begin to see the fall colours in full force a truly remarkable spectacle of nature.

Milford Sound (night 5) 2nd of May 2018

From Queenstown we’ll be taking the road to Milford Sound where we’ll be indulging in an afternoon boat cruise around the spectacular fjords. Upon arrival we’ll be photographing the spectacular Mitre peak both at sunset and at sunrise to give everyone an idea of how light can change depending on the time of the day.

Queenstown + Glenorchy - 3rd & 4th of May 2018

What many to consider to be the gem of the New Zealand, nestled away in the Southern Alps, Queenstown’s beautiful surroundings are simply something that have to be seen to be believed. We’ll be spending two nights here, having a trip up the Skyline Gondola, and doing a day trip to Glenorchy. If the conditions are favourable we will also be visiting Moke Lake for some astro photography.

Our last day, the 5th of May 2018, on the photo tour will come to an end after a sunrise photography session at one of Queenstowns many beautiful photography destinations and after a hearty breakfast and a chance to say goodbye. Now if you’re holiday isn’t quite finished we can drop you off at a hotel of your choice in Queenstown, then we’ll be heading to Queenstown Airport if anybody is flying out the same day.

This is a trip that is carefully put together to optimise the conditions. We will be heading out every morning at sunrise and making sure we photography every sunset.
