Fall Garden Party hosted by Tiana Webb Evans
Fundraiser to support Project For Empty Space

Saturday, September 23rd, 12 - 3pm

Project For Empty Space Gallery
at 2 Gateway Center, Newark, NJ

Project For Empty Space and Board Member, Tiana Webb Evans warmly invite you to join us, Saturday, September 23rd, for a Fall Garden Party. This autumnal affair is inspired by the work of current Artist in Residence, Wardell Milan, who will take guests on a tour of his exhibition. We hope that you can join us for a day of flaura-infused art, flowing botanical cocktails, and a delicious brunch featuring local fare.

This event was created is to raise awareness and support for PES’s exhibitions, programs and public initiatives.

About the Organization:
Project For Empty Space is a not-for-profit organization that creates socially engaging, multidisciplinary art exhibitions and programming that encourage social dialogue, education, and systemic change for cultural tolerance. This mission is achieved through a permanent project/gallery space, an incubator program for artists addressing social change, and through collaborative and interactive programs in vacant and neglected spaces in cities around the world.

We strongly believe that there is a symbiotic relationship between artists, communities, and social discourse. It is our goal to foster socially and politically inspired artists in an ongoing residency program; to curate thought-provoking and culturally relevant exhibitions; and to create exciting, engaging, and inclusionary community programs around art and social change.

Project For Empty Space is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are Tax Exempt to the fullest extent of the law.

About Wardell Milan:
Over the last decade Wardell Milan has become known for his expansive practice, which includes drawing, collage, photo-diorama, and more recently, painting. Throughout these diverse media, the artist sustains a thoughtful enquiry into the nature of self-identity, beauty, the unconscious, and sexuality. In much of his work, Milan draws liberally from a range of sources that include magazine imagery, historical artworks, family snapshots, and illustrated books.

Born in Knoxville, TN, in 1977, Mr. Milan received his MFA from Yale University in 2004. His recent exhibitions include Kingdom or Exile: Parisian Landscapes at the Savannah College of Art and Design and Body Language at The Studio Museum in Harlem. From 2006-07, Milan undertook a residency at The Studio Museum, resulting in a three-person exhibition entitled Midnight’s Daydream. His work can be found in various public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Denver Art Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
