Description

Fall Forum is a multi-day conference showcasing the Kingmakers of Oakland model for African American Male Achievement. This event is an opportunity for participants to learn ways to address the systems, structures, conditions, and cultures that can lead to improved educational outcomes for African American boys from Pre-K to 12th grade. Participants will leave with an action plan to inspire leadership for Black boys in your own city, town, or region.

Tentative schedule of events:

  • Wednesday, October 16: 4:00pm - 6:00pm; Welcome Reception and Registration

  • Thursday, October 17: 7:30am - 9:00pm; School Site Visits, Workshops, and Dinner

  • Friday, October 18: 8:30am - 4:00pm; Workshops

  • Saturday: October 19: 8:30am - 1:00pm; ManUp! Youth Leadership Conference [see more details below]

The Fall Forum is a convening for school district, nonprofit, philanthropic, and other educational teams that include a combination of students, teachers, principals, staff, administrators, and elected officials.

Hosted by Oakland Unified School District's African American Male Achievement & Latino Student Achievement programs, ManUp! is an intergenerational youth-centered conference, held in Oakland (separate registration required, but no extra cost). If you are interested in attending the ManUp! conference, please indicate 'Yes' on your registration. More information and RSVP for ManUp! can be found here.

Fall Forum is an event hosted by Kingmakers of Oakland, in collaboration with the African American Male Achievement Program within OUSD, as well as with our fiscal sponsor, The National Equity Project.


Interested parties who cannot attend Fall Forum should save the date for Spring Symposium March 18-20, 2020.

If you need to pay by check or purchase order, please complete a check registration form and send with check made payable to: National Equity Project, 1720 Broadway, 4th Floor, Oakland, CA 94612.

If you need an invoice generated in order to process payment, please complete a check registration form and email to events@nationalequityproject.org and we'll return an invoice to you.

Please note, your registration is not complete and your seat is not reserved until we receive full payment.
