Event description

Description

The Dreamer Ally Training is designed for staff, faculty, and student employees who work with undocumented students and students with mixed-status families. The training provides an overview of the federal and state policies that impact undocumented students on a day to day basis; the unique legal, education, and social conditions experienced by these students; activities to better understand the needs of this population; and tools to become allies and ultimately advocates. Upon completion of the training, attendees will receive a “Dreamer Ally” decal to use in their workplace as an indication of having completed the training.

The training is 2.5 hours long and includes case scenarios based on the experiences of undocumented students and students from mixed-status families at Sacramento State. After attending the training, attendees will be better prepared to assist students who disclose their immigration status and need assistance navigating higher education.
