Innovate@UIC Academic Entrepreneur Workshop Series
Innovate@UIC invites all UIC faculty, students, staff, and peers in the research community interested in commercializing complex research to join us for our Academic Entrepreneur Workshop Series. Produced in concert with the UIC Chancellors Innovation Fund, the series is designed to support recipients of the proof of concept funds, current and future applicants and any researcher interested in taking an idea from the lab to market. The series is aimed at academic innovators exploring this critical proof of concept stage and provides insight into conducting market oriented technology development.
This unique look into commercialization of research will be presented by experienced entrepreneurs and professional law firms. The series will provide a glimpse at the importance of testing the value proposition of a technology, funding a venture, finding viable commercial pathways, forming a company, and devising intellectual property portfolio strategies when spinning out of an academic setting.
Bring your lunch and a beverage, light snacks will be provided.
Presented by Joe Feldman
Thursday, October 8th, 11am-1pm
For scientific discovery and translational research to traverse the path to market, a clear benefit to the stakeholders, whether they are users, buyers, or influencers, needs to be realized. This workshop will provide the context for defining and demonstrating the value proposition of a technology.
