Dr. Sonya Gordon graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada in 1994. She then completed a small animal internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Canada and returned to the Ontario Veterinary College where she completed an advanced degree in cardiology and her cardiology residency training. Subsequently she joined the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science of Texas A&M University and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of cardiology in 1999. She has been on faculty at Texas A&M University since 1998 and is currently an Associate professor of cardiology and is proud to be a part of a busy progressive cardiology program. Although she considers herself a clinician and teacher first her research interests are focused on canine chronic valve disease, imaging, interventional procedures and clinical trials. She considers her home College Station TX where she shares her life with her husband, 4 dogs and 2 cats.

12:45 to 2:45 pm: The Heart in Contest: Cardio-Renal Interactions in Canine Heart Disease
This session will deal with the interactions of cardiac disease/treatment with renal function. Strategies to optimally manage concurrent renal and heart disease will be discussed with particular emphasis on the potential pit-falls of polypharmacy in this patient population.
