Faithful Journeys: Living fully in the final chapters of life

A one-day conference examining Catholic perspectives on Accompaniment at End of Life.


Join us for a full day of exploring end of life considerations from multiple perspectives. National and regional Catholic leaders from clinical, ecclesial, ethical and advocacy arenas will actively engage with participants in a robust examination of:

  • patient centered advance care planning,
  • medical and ethical shared-decision making,
  • palliative care, and
  • public policy and advocacy issues in the public square.

Learn from Catholic healthcare and ministerial leaders and experts addressing clinical, ethical, spiritual, social and personal dimensions of end of life care.

Event tailored for:

  • Clinicians and Health care professionals and students – physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and pastoral care and healthcare professionals
  • Patients and families, caregivers, pro-life supporters and advocates
  • Clergy and faith leaders

Topics include:

  • Accompaniment on the Journey –Spiritual and cultural obligations – What is the Church’s Prophetic Pastoral Voice? What is prudential judgment?
  • Ethical Dimensions – Consideration for Institutional providers in any setting - Acute, Long term care, home and community-based settings
  • Advance Care Planning – Values, patient preferences and the role of conscience
  • The healing power of Palliative Care – Relying on the role of palliative care to bridge patient preferences and values with treatment goals and care plans (Ira’s new article in America)
  • Engaging the “People in the Pew” - new models for educating patients and families
