Event description

Description

Dr. William Harrison Taylor, associate professor of history at Alabama State University, and author of Unity in Christ and Country: American Presbyterians in the Revolutionary Era, 1758-1801 (University of Alabama Press, 2017), will be the next speaker at Old Pine Street Church’s 250th Anniversary Speaker Series.

In his new book, Dr. Taylor examines the interdenominational pursuits of American Presbyterians from 1758 to 1801 to highlight the church’s ambitious agenda of fostering and uniting a host of New World values, among them Christendom, nationalism, and territorial exceptionalism.

In his talk at Old Pine Street Church, Dr. Taylor will explore the issues and circumstances that led to the transformation of the Presbyterian Church during the founding of the U.S. and its impact on the future of the denomination and the country.

For this free event, light refreshments are provided and limited on-street parking is available.
