For anyone and everyone who is working for positive change in their faith community, through their professional work, as part of a community organization or even totally on their own
9:30 to 10:00 - Event Check-In & Refreshments
- Enjoy some breakfast treats, coffee and other goodies!
- Get your event information, including a list of other activists and organizations in attendance; and news about cool volunteer opportunities and advocacy actions!
10:00 to 10:15 - Welcome & Overview
- SLCC's new Special Assistant to the President, Dr. Roderic Land, will share some remarks with everyone.
- ACLU of Utah Public Policy Advocate Anna Brower will give a brief overview of what's cooking in criminal justice reform in 2015
10:15 to 10:30 - Progress by Community Activists & Leaders
- Participants from our "Breaking Every Chain" events will talk about what they've accomplished since last fall, and what lies ahead for their efforts!
10:30 to 11:45 - Break-Out Workshops on BIG ISSUES in Criminal Justice Reform in Utah
- Everyone will get the chance to attend TWO of these THREE 30-minute sessions, which will be interactive and action-oriented:
- REAL Reform on the Hill: Learn what's happening during the 2015 Legislative Session and how YOU can make a difference!
- Health Care & Criminal Justice: Passing Govenor Herbert's "Healthy Utah Plan" could make a big impact on people who get trapped in the system...find out what YOU can do to make it happen!
- Direct Impact through Volunteering: Looking for a way to make a difference by volunteering your time in support of people who are in prison, or trying to start over after prison, or at risk for going to prison? Hear directly from organizations and programs doing the work and wanting YOUR help!
11:45 to 12:00 - Final Remarks & Wrap-Up
12:00 to 1:00 - Free Networking Lunch
- Enjoy free refreshments while making YOUR plans to contribute to criminal justice reform in 2015.
- Make sure you collect business cards and contact info from all the other activists and concerned community members you meet!
