Event description
FAITH and HIV in the Church round table discussion

About this Event

Who:

Pastors, ministers and church leaders

WHAT:

On, March 21st 2020 between the hours of 11 am at the Fellowship Baptist Church Social Circle Ga, Foundations For Living will host our first “Faith and HIV In the Church” Preacher’s Round table discussion for pastors, ministers and church leaders in our local North Georgia Rural communities.

As you know most churches have been the hub or life line for survival in the black and brown communities regarding civil rights or injustices for our people, but now the church is nowhere to be found when it comes to injustices or lack of love, support, spiritual growth and healing of our HIV parishioners . And this is a major concern for Foundations For Living so we are taking action by inviting pastors, ministers and church leaders in the surrounding North Ga counties to have an open and frank discussion regarding stigma and how it hinders the spiritual growth and well being of members living with HIV.

Our hope and desire is that the participants will leave with the following:

1. Awareness

2. Education

3. Engagement

4. Strategy

5. Implementation

WHY:

According to the Georgia Department of Health in 2017, there are 58,808 people living with HIV in the state of Georgia. Yet, there are 1008 known cases living in the Northeast Georgia Area.
