Event description

Description

A one day literary festival with its own tent inside Fairford Festival, the FFF returns for its second year with an even bigger line-up of writer guests! A ticket gets you access to all of the following (as well as getting you into the main Fairford Festival). Children under 12 have free admission, but please note that some panels have age limitations. All our guests will be signing their work for 30 minutes after their panels.

9:30am: The pupils of Fairford Primary School read their work. (Free entry for everyone.)

10:30am: Ross Montgomery – children’s author

Ross’ debut, Alex, the Dog and the Unopenable Door was a Costa Children’s Book of the Year nominee, and selected as one of the Sunday Times’ Top 100 Modern Children’s Classics. All three of his children’s novels have been award nominated. He also writes picture books for younger children. His next book, The Space Tortoise, is out in May.

1pm: Chrissy Williams – poet

Chrissy is a poet and editor, and her first full poetry collection Bear (‘a collection of poems that deal with all that is most serious in human life’ – Annie Freud) was one of the Daily Telegraph’s 50 Best Books of 2017. She recently edited the UK’s first book on poetry comics. She’s co-founder and director of the annual Free Verse Poetry Book Fair.

2.30pm: Sarah Hilary – crime writer

Sarah’s thriller novel Someone Else’s Skin won the 2015 Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, and a World Book Night Title. Her series of tense police procedurals about D.I. Marnie Rome, now four books long, continues with Come and Find Me, out in March.

4pm: Matthew Graham – TV writer

Matthew, who still has family in Fairford, began his TV writing career on Eastenders and Byker Grove, and went on to make major contributions to This Life, Spooks, Hustle and Doctor Who. He’s best known as the co-creator of Life on Mars. He’s now based in Hollywood, and works mainly for US television.

5.30pm: Mark Gatiss – TV writer, novelist and actor

Star and writer of The League of Gentlemen, co-creator and star of Sherlock, novelist and screenwriter of many episodes of Doctor Who, as well as appearing in the most recent Christmas Special, actor in everything from Game of Thrones to Gunpowder, we’re delighted to present an hour in the company of Mark Gatiss.
