Event description

Description

Studies show that 3-4 million children between the ages of 3-17 are at risk of exposure to domestic violence each year and that children from violent homes have higher risks of alcohol/drug abuse, post traumatic stress disorder, and juvenile delinquency. In this training, participants will learn about the developmental impacts of trauma, the long-term impacts of witnessing domestic violence, the impact of domestic violence on children's brain development and how to support parents who have a child that's witnessed domestic violence.

Presenter:

Brittany Vera, LCSW, Child Witness to Domestic Violence Coordinator, Fairfax County Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence Services
