Description

This training will focus on how professionals working with older and vulnerable adult survivors can enhance their knowledge of elder abuse prevention, response, mandatory reporting obligations, and community resources, including the ElderSAFE™ Center in Rockville, MD which serves survivors from MD, DC, and Northern Virginia. Through case examples, participants will learn the different types of elder abuse (domestic violence across the lifespan, family violence, and third party caregiver), identifying the survivors and perpetrators, and barriers to reporting. Participants will learn ways to increase and strengthen multidisciplinary coordination with their community partners, including: Adult Protective Services, prosecutors, police, social service programs serving older adults, hospitals, and domestic and sexual violence programs to achieve the safest and best results in these complex cases.

Presenters:
