Please join us for this exciting Brownbag Lecture by new Hub Members, Fair Trials.
Fair Trials is a new Hub member, just branching out to DC after establishing offices in London and Brussels. Fair Trials helps people facing criminal charges all over the world to protect their procedural rights and campaigns for fairer criminal justice systems. Hub member Rebecca Shaeffer will describe Fair Trials' work and the ways in which the right to a fair trial intersects with issues of transparency, openness, and accountability. These include: the role of trials in shedding light on police and investigative agencies; the right to information and evidence; criminal justice in the SDGs; the role of criminal defence rights in anti-corruption work; and data collection in the justice sector.
Fair Trials is a human rights organisation that works to improve respect for the fundamental human right to a fair trial. They believe the right to a fair trial is an essential part of a just society.
