Come out for a twilight-evening run as we put this unique opposed-piston engine through its paces during a round trip ride through Niles Canyon stopping for photo runbys. As darkness falls, you'll be able to see the unique SP Style ash-can Gyra-lights in action.

* This SP 1487 is the former USA 1847 acquired from The Hawthorn Naval Weapons Depot in Nevada. It has been painted and restored to represent the first class of FM switchers purchased by the SP, all of which have been scrapped. This unit was not ever owned by SP and was restored as a replica clone of SP 1487.
This event is jointly sponsored by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Pacific Locomotive Association as a fundraiser to provide for the continued restoration of railroad artifacts and extension and maintenance of the Niles Canyon Railway.
