Description
The Fair Trade Trio will be joined by oboist Jason Smoller for an evening of chamber music in the beautiful SAJ sanctuary. Repertoire will include Francaix's Quartet for English Horn and Trio, Dohnányi's Serenade for String Trio, and Beethoven's Op. 9 No. 3. Tickets will also be available at the door (cash or check).
Jason Smoller, freelance oboe and English horn player, has performed in China, France, the Dominican Republic, and throughout the United States. He is a founding board member of the Fair Trade Chamber Music Society and believes strongly in the power of music to change lives.
Guest artist, Hannah Levinson, will be joining the trio on viola for this concert. Hannah is an active performer in New York City, devoted to performing music of the past 50 years. She is a founding member of the violin/viola duo andPlay, an ensemble that works to commission new works and perform lesser-known works for their instrumentation.
The Fair Trade Trio is a professional string trio that regularly performs around New York City and tours North America. The trio specializes in creating accessible performances for all audiences and has a mission to champion the works of living female composers alongside the standard chamber music canon. Highlights of their 2016/17 season include performances in Manhattan including their first appearance in the music series Music at Our Saviour’s Atonement, the world premiere of their newly commissioned piece by Canadian composer Emily Doolittle and a tour of the Pacific northwest in the summer of 2017.
