Event description

Description

This summer, the St. Tammany Parish Department of Health and Human Services is beginning to develop its Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH), as required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule. The AFH planning process helps communities analyze challenges to fair housing choice and establish their own goals and priorities to address fair housing barriers.

Community participation is an important component of the AFH process, and DHHS seeks to engage a broad range of stakeholders. In recognition of the St. Tammany Housing and Homeless Alliance’s deep involvement and expertise in fair housing issues, we look to your experience and insight to help guide the development of the AFH.

Please join us at the next meeting, August 24th from 8:30 – 10:00am on the 3rd Floor in Building B, Koop Drive, Mandeville for an introduction to the project’s purpose, scope and schedule. The consulting firm Asakura Robinson, which DHHS has engaged to aid in this process, will present initial findings from data analysis, and solicit your ideas for reaching target audiences in St. Tammany Parish. Broader community engagement will begin in the fall.

Please contact Matt Rufo at matt@asakurarobinson.com with any questions regarding the AFH project. More information about the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule is available at:

We look forward to seeing you in August.
