Description

Highlights and Background

This workshop takes a holistic approach to preparing you to analyze and prioritize process failure risks and prevent them from happening. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis or FMEA is an archetypical preventive action quality tool as it brings the process design or improvement team together to anticipate failure, its impact and strategies for controlling it. FMEA is a critical step in the design of new processes and products, the improvement of existing ones. FMEA should be a step of any meaningful corrective action process to develop solutions or assess their robustness.

This is a hands-on workshop that leads you thru the complete process of defining the important outcomes to your process, anticipating risks and developing implement strategies to assure their robustness. You will learn the objectives and applications of FMEA, why, when and how to apply it. Two workshop projects– one with the aid of a simulated process and one with your own process – assure that you learn by doing and are prepared to go back and work successfully with your colleagues to implement FMEA.

Key Course Takeaways

Upon completion of the workshop you will be skilled in how to:

  • Prepare for an FMEA by defining the priority process outcomes, developing process maps, identifying critical to quality (CTQs) and critical to process (CTPs) variables at each step, using historical quality data and accounting for other insights from structured problem solving processes
  • Team-up for successful FMEA efforts
  • Conduct efficient and effective FMEA
  • Follow-up to lower failure risks

You will leave the workshop with a head-start on appling FMEA to a process you select from your operations back home.
