Faculty Forum: International Research and Partnerships
Over the last couple of years, we have seen an uptick in enforcement activities in the US related to undisclosed outside activities, particularly those involving agreements with foreign entities. At times these enforcement activities have seemed to target certain groups.
In this forum, we will discuss the relevant external disclosure/reporting requirements (which also apply to agreements with domestic entities) to help researchers understand these requirements and what resources are available here at the University to support researchers in meeting the requirements.
The workshop will be moderated by Laura Rosenthal, Director for Faculty Leadership, Office of Faculty Affairs; and speakers include John Bertot, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs; Laurie E. Locascio, Vice President for Research; Adam Grant, Export Compliance Officer; Min Wu, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Brian Medina, Program Manager, Bias Incident Support Services.
(Please note that the Outside Professional Activity (OPA) report is our internal reporting requirement to help researchers and the University identify potential conflicts of interest or commitment. These "outside activities" are agreements between individuals and outside entities (companies, universities, governmental organizations, etc.) where UMD is not part of the agreement. Many US funding agencies also require researchers to report these activities in contract and grant proposals.)
This event is open only to faculty and staff at the University of Maryland. If you require special accommodations, please email us or call 301.405.6803.
