Event description

Description

Join us for our Teach-In series featuring a screening Winterfilm Collective’s Winter Soldier followed by a discussion with Mark Bradley.

The Film: This explosive documentary, made by the Winterfilm Collective (members included Barbara Kopple and David Grubin), chronicles the Winter Soldier Investigation through testimonies of soldiers who participated or witnessed atrocities in Vietnam. Ignored by all the major television networks when it was completed, the film remains powerful testimony that resonates beyond the war in Vietnam to all present wars. Re-released in 2005, the Washington Post called it “a riveting example of pure filmic storytelling…the eloquent, unforgettable tale of profound moral reckoning.”

The Speaker: Mark Bradley, Ph.D., is the author of Imagining Vietnam and America: The Making of Postcolonial Vietnam, Vietnam at War, The World Reimagined: Americans and Human Rights in the Twentieth Century, and the Bernadotte E. Schmitt Distinguished Service Professor of International History at the University of Chicago.
