First pages matter. As readers, we want a first page to draw us in, intrigue us and compel us to read on. So how best to achieve this, as writers? A good first page doesn't try to do everything. In fact, it might focus on doing one thing really well. In this workshop we'll discuss what makes a great first page, and why, using examples supplied by Judith. We also invite 15 participants to send their own first pages to Judith for a line or two of constructive, supportive feedback to take away on the day. No more than 400 words, please!

Organized by

Write Your Way is an online Creative Writing School. In partnership with Goldfinch Books, an independent bookshop in the heart of Hampshire, we organise free and paid workshops, seminars, masterclasses and courses covering every aspect of writing.

Our tutors and speakers are the best in their fields, and our mission is to deliver high quality content to aspiring authors from any type of background. Underrepresented, low-income, or simply motivated writers too busy with their day job to make writing a priority will all find something for them.

Please join us for one of our free workshops, we run them every month!
