Event description

Description

Clay and Paper Theatre confronts the temptation of limitless power and technology in its 2017 outdoor summer show, FABLES FOR THE FUTURE. A tap dancing trickster fox, a singing robot and the President of Future Reality Co., battle it out in this big-hearted tale of transformation and love. FABLES FOR THE FUTURE looks at the world as it is today with all of its environmental, technological and moral high stakes, and asks: Is it time for a revolution of the heart?

FABLES FOR THE FUTURE incorporates an original script with vibrant design, music, movement, and signature Clay and Paper Theatre giant puppets and striking images in a public space setting for all citizens to enjoy. This production explores the beauty and strangeness that confronts us at the beginning of the 21st century with satire and wit, and employs a variety of papier-mâché puppet characters and masks, multi-talented performers and a raucous live band.

FABLES FOR THE FUTURE is a FAMILY FRIENDLY show for ADULTS AND ACCOMPANIED CHILDREN. We'll be performing our summer show in Wincott Park as part of the Toronto Arts Foundation's city-wide arts programming initiative, taking place in parks across all of Toronto: https://artsintheparksto.org/

ABOUT CLAY & PAPER THEATRE
Now in its 23rd season and founded in 1994 by David Anderson (longtime theatre activist, producer of new Canadian work, and defender of public space), Clay & Paper Theatre has created, developed and performed multi-disciplinary, community-driven theatrical works using narrative theatre, music and large-scale puppetry in public spaces. A little theatre company asking big questions with humour and irreverence, Clay & Paper Theatre is not funny and is never serious.

Clay & Paper Theatre gratefully acknowledges support from the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Foundation, the Amicus Foundation, The City of Toronto, Parks & Recreation, Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment & Training and SERVICE Canada.
