Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy is a genetic disease that causes progressive muscle wasting that usually starts around the age of 20-30 and leaves those affected in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives. NDF is working diligently towards treatments and a cure in tandem with members of its scientific Consortium on GNE Myopathy (HIBM) which includes the NIH, Hadassah, UCLA, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Newcastle University, as well as government-backed academics in Japan, Korea and Europe.
