Event description

Description

  • Geared towards those interested in competitive gymnastics
  • Focus on basics, technique, proper execution and enhancing strength
  • Max enrollment: 20 gymnasts
  • Minimum age: 5 years old Maximum age: 11 years old

What to wear: We prefer a leotard and tight/form-fitting shorts to prevent any spotting issues or catching on any of the apparatuses. If you do not have a leotard, a tight/form-fitting athletic tank and shorts is acceptable. Please do not wear just a sports bra and shorts so that the gymnasts skin does not get scratched or irritated by contact with the coaches spotting hands or the surface of different apparatuses.

What to bring: Please be sure to equip your gymnasts with a water bottle and a small snack for a short break period.

About our coaches:

  • Coach Alyssa is the head coach and director of the competitive gymnastics program. She has been with Extreme for about 5-6 years now. She has coached levels 3-10 competitively. Her most recent accomplishment as a coach was securing one of her gymnasts, Jordan Danbury, a spot on the BYU NCAA gymnastics team, where she begins her freshman season this year. Alyssa has a very passionate and competitive personality. She started competing gymnastics at the age of 5, and competed all the way through NCAA gymnastics. She is currently an active Crossfit and USA Weightlifting competitor and loves to bring her knowledge of exercise and conditioning to the gymnastics program. Be sure to say, "Hi" when you see her at the clinic!
  • Coach Brittany coaches the compulsory competitive gymnastics program. She has been with Extreme for 3+ years now. She has been in competition season since this past August, and is looking forward to taking her team to the District Championship in October. She pioneered the shift into competing solely USAG sanctioned meets from the TAAF season we used to follow. She is also very competitive and pushes her program to reach higher expectations. She competed for one of the largest and most well-known programs (WOGA) in the US, and continued her gymnastics through NCAA gymnastics. Valeri Liukin is the coach and owner of WOGA who recently succeeded Martha Karolyi as the US National Team coordinator. Brittany brings a littany of knowledge and structure from the WOGA experience. Say, "Hi" when you see her at the clinic!
