Event description

Description

Is your community ready for an extreme event? Find out with this role-playing game!

Developed from a National Academy of Sciences report on Community Resilience, and with support from FEMA, the Extreme Event game gives participants a taste of what it takes to build community resilience in the face of disaster. This fun, fast-paced and challenging game building community resiliency and awareness, has won a GOLD Medal in the museum category for the 2015 International Serious Play Awards.

Participants must work together to make decisions and solve problems during an engaging disaster simulation. Players select a role in one of six sectors: household, community groups, businesses, first responders, local and state government, and federal government. Each sector must decide which resources to invest in to make their city more resilient. A disaster strikes, and players must use their resources, and collaborate with each other, to solve challenges in their neighborhoods and city.
