Join us for a comprehensive walking tour of Carnton.

About this event

Join us for a comprehensive walking tour of Carnton. The tour focuses on some elements of the Battle of Franklin, how Carnton was used as a field hospital, the history of the McGavock family and Confederate Cemetery, as well as the history of slavery at Carnton, in Tennessee, and across America.

Arrive at Carnton at least 15 minutes prior to tour time. The Extended Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. About 45 minutes will be inside and 45 minutes will be outdoors. This tour is not recommended for children under the age of ten or those with limited mobility. However, if you choose to bring your child (or children) a ticket must be purchased regardless of age.

The mission of The Battle of Franklin Trust is to preserve, understand, and interpret the story of a people forever impacted by the American Civil War.  The Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization. We manage two historic sites in Franklin, Tennessee, that witnessed the 1864 Battle of Franklin: Carter House and Carnton.
