About this event

Join us for a comprehensive walking tour of the Carter House and the Franklin battlefield. The Extended Tour at Carter House will begin with a history of the site, and lead into a focused discussion on slavery and how it led to secession and ultimately the Civil War. Guests will begin outside before heading inside for a tour of the Carter home. The tour will next focus on the Battle of Franklin, with stops at several important battle related sites. The tour will conclude with the post-war story of the Carter family and how a fractured but reunited country began the slow path toward recovery. The Extended Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. This tour is not recommended for children under the age of ten or those with limited mobility. However, if you choose to bring your child (or children) a ticket must be purchased regardless of age.
