[About Mayela]
Mayela Carrasco is a talented, high-energy, inspirational dancer specializing in Afro-Brazilian dance traditions. Having taught in schools and community-based organizations across the Bay Area since 2010, She facilitates students to increase confidence in their bodies, develop proficiency in various dance styles, while always emphasizing the historical context in which these dances were developed.
Mayela gained the title of Passista do Paraíso do Tuiuti, one of the top Carnaval schools in Rio de Janeiro, as well as queen of Carnaval San Francisco 2023.
