Le terme « Webtoon », utilisé en coréen, est la forme contractée de « Web Cartoons », et désigne une nouvelle forme de bande dessinée numérique, désormais très populaire en Corée du Sud. La bande dessinée est une branche de l’art qui est née et s’est développée avec l’évolution de l’imprimerie. La reproduction en masse a depuis rencontré la technologie numérique, qui permet de démultiplier la reproduction des œuvres. Grâce à l’apparition du smartphone, n’importe qui peut se connecter au net et lire n’importe quand et n’importe où ces fameux webtoons qui se développent à une vitesse inouïe. A l’exposition de Webtoon organisée au centre culturel coréen, vous pouvez découvrir les spécificités des webtoons coréens ainsi qu’avoir une expérience sur le webtoon via des tablettes disposés au Centre.

De term ‘Webtoon’ is ontstaan uit de combinatie van de woorden ‘web’ en ‘cartoon’. Dit is een nieuwe vorm van digitale strip, die nu erg populair is in Zuid-Korea. De strip is een kunstvorm die samen met de evolutie van het drukken is ontstaan en ontwikkeld. Sinds de ontwikkeling van digitale technologie is massa-productie en de verspreiding naar het publiek op grote schaal mogelijk. Het is ook een stripvorm dat dankzij de opkomst van smartphones een explosieve groei kent. Met een smartpone kan namelijk iedereen verbinding maken met het wereldwijde web en altijd en overal webtoons lezen. Op de tentoonstelling georganiseerd in het Koreaans cultureel centrum, kunnen jullie de specifieke kenmerken van de Koreaanse webtoons ontdekken evenals de webtoons ervaren via de beschikbare tablets in het centrum.
