Event description

Description

*BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! IF YOU MISSED THE FIRST ONE, HERE IS ANOTHER CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THIS WORKSHOP.

In this workshop, we will partner with horses in exploring the ways in which rhythm and patterns influence and enhance connection to self, others, and the Higher Power. Rhythm regulates us and helps us feel grounded and connected to ourselves and the world around us. From our mother's heartbeat in the womb to the music we share and listen to, rhythm plays a crucial supporting role in our lives.

Oftentimes our rhythms are disrupted or disorganized during traumatic experiences, grief and loss, overwhelming stress, life changes, and many other adverse experiences. When these rhythms get interrupted, our capacity for healthy relationship to ourselves and those around us suffers.

In this workshop we will explore:

  • The role rhythm plays throughout human development in the ability to connect to and relate to others
  • How the disruption of rhythms or lack of consistent rhythms interfere with our ability to stay connected to our whole selves- body, mind, and spirit
  • The importance of rhythm in horse development and survival and how it relates to humans
  • How to intentionally incorporate rhythm to reorganize our own disrupted systems- then how to use it to interact with and help others
  • how to practice intentionally incorporating rhythm with horses to gain connection and cooperation- then how to transfer that to human relationships

This workshop includes opportunities to:

  • participate in a drum circle (instruments will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own)
  • interact with horses one-on-one in an enclosed space and in an open space

We will provide seating, snacks, water, and instruments. Dress for being outdoors as appropriate for the weather conditions. Wear closed-toed shoes or boots. This workshop will include some mild physical activity including walking and standing. Work with horses will be done on the ground. This workshop does not include riding on the back of a horse.

This workshop will provide 3.5 CEUs for LPC, LCSW, LMFT, and other behavioral or mental health professions. Check with your board. Certificates avaialbe immediatley after completion of the workshop.
