How are humans formed? What factors shape our identities as humans? And what practices lend themselves to human and spiritual formation? Academic disciplines answer this question in increasingly different ways. Yet how we understand human formation affects everything.
Join us as we advance the conversation at our second-annual Exploring Personhood conference, presented by the L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary on Feb. 2-3, 2023. You’ll hear from Christian Miller, Dru Johnson, Andy Davis, Jennifer Herdt, Kelly Kapic, Todd Hall and Kristin Kellen.
Exploring Personhood: Human Formation will begin with the authority of the Scriptures and Christian theology. We’ll then invite perspectives from the sciences (counseling and psychology), humanities (ethics, biblical studies, philosophy, and theology), and pastoral ministry. Our aim is to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue on the Imago Dei and embodiment — all for the glory of God and the good of the world.
This conference is part of a larger project titled “Being Human: Theology and Praxis” made possible through the support of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. We thank the Foundation for its generosity, and we pray that our efforts will prove helpful for facilitating thoughtful dialogue and fruitful ministry.
